Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured
Discovery 4 Armoured is the most capable of all the vehicles in the Jaguar Land Rover Armoured range. It offers an outstanding breadth of off-road capability while providing the same levels of B6 protection for occupants as the Range Rover Armoured. This is the state-of-the-art, multi-purpose vehicle from Land Rover and, unlike many rivals, has integrated B6 protection. Almost indistinguishable from the non-armoured Discovery 4, it is certified by QinetiQ®. Ideal for both VIP protection and support/escort roles, new Discovery 4 Armoured is the perfect platform for police and security organisations.
Reassurance
The Discovery 4 Armoured undergoes a thorough and painstaking engineering development and construction process and is a fully type approved armoured vehicle when it leaves Land Rover. Its B6 ballistic capability is defined in accordance with European Standard EN1063 BR6 (glazing) and EN1522 and is certified by QiniteQ®, a leading, independent, globally recognised international security and defence, design and certification organisation. As a factory supplied product the vehicle comes with a Land Rover three year or 50,000 miles (80,000km) warranty, the support of Land Rover’s worldwide dealer network and a comprehensive range of additional aftersales packages.
Protection
Discreetly armoured with its first level protection delivered through its anonymity, the Discovery 4 Armoured is a fully integrated product with B6 levels of ballistic protection and additional blast resistance. Optimum occupant protection is assured thanks to, amongst other components, bullet resistant glazing, ballistic steel armouring and Kevlar® floor protection. The Discovery 4 Armoured, retains functionality of the driver and front passenger facia airbags. Seat belts comply with EC whole vehicle type approval for anchorage strength and installation. These features help optimise passenger protection to the highest level. Discovery 4 Armoured offers a flexible seating layout with accommodation for five people.
Capability
The Discovery 4 is a vehicle designed to take on the more difficult surfaces with confidence and safety. The additional weight of armoured protection onnDiscovery 4 Armoured does not compromise thisnperformance. Air springs and anti-rollbars are uprated, while dampers are tuned to optimise ride and handling. Stability Control System software ensures confident handling under all envisaged driving conditions. Refined power and smooth torque distribution are supplied by the advanced automatic 5.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 5.0L petrol engine can accelerate the vehicle from 0-100km/h in 10.6 seconds (0-60mph in 10.3 seconds) and achieves a top speed of 160km/h. Larger brake discs and multi piston callipers ensure outstanding brake performance. On the road, four corner independent air suspension gives car-like ride and handling as well as an upgraded braking system.
